Artwork

FORTIS captures a solitary horse in the open landscape of Montana, defined by stillness, strength and presence. Beginning as a photograph, the image is transformed through material and hand-applied artistic intervention, creating a physical work that extends beyond the photographic print. At 6.2 × 4.2 feet, the scale gives the horse an almost life-size presence while preserving the quiet restraint of the original image.
